The initial situation was a brutalist school building characterised by toughness, symmetry and a concrete construction.
The sealed facade and the steep topography created a barrier between the building and the street. To show the essence of the brutalist building, add more light, and break the stiffness, the floors of the middle part of the building were removed.
As a consequence, the structure was exposed and the building was split into two halves. As the ground floor was split through the separation of the building, the street could continue through it.
